Whether you are a student, single or married there is a ministry for you in our community. Please read about our ministries and consider joining us.
A Bible Study is conducted under the guidance of the parish priest.
Greek School / Ellinomathea
The St. Nectarios Greek School is one of the most successful language schools in Boston. St. Nectarios Church is also the only approved center in New England for the "Ellinomathea Exam" (a Greek Proficiency exam, recognized by the Greek Government). An active PTA supports the school's educational goals.
Sunday School is an active program at St. Nectarios Church. Classes start at the end of September until the end of May. Mrs. Sophie Donovan is the program's director.
Altar Boys Ministry
The word "acolyte" comes from the ancient Greek word "akoloutheo" meaning to follow. An acolyte, therefore, is one who follows and attends upon the Bishops, Priests, and Deacons in the service of the Church. He is given permission to serve in the Sanctuary for the sole purpose of ministering to the Priests during Divine Services. Please contact Fr. Vassilios if you would like to serve in the altar.
St. Nectarios has a dynamic youth group. GOYANs have classes every Sunday and meetings every Thursday at 7:00 PM. Tony Kariotis and Sassa Tselengidis are GOYA's advisors. JoAnne Kazis is the GOYA HS class Sunday School Teacher.
The Senior Citizens of our community have meetings at the Parish Library every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
St. Nectarios Philoptochos is a Ladies Charity group, supporting Philanthropic ministries of our Archdiocese and Metropolis and assisting the Parish Council in various community events.
Every MONDAY from 5 - 7:45 pm the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church (62 Harvard Ave, Allston) has an "Open Door Ministry" which serves a free meal to those in the community who need it. They are always in need of help. Several of our parishioners volunteer at this ministry. Please see the Holy Resurrection website for more details
