GRACE Place (Sunday School)
GRACE (God Reaches All Children Everywhere) Place is our new Sunday School program name.
Saint Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church is fortunate to have a very strong and thriving Sunday school program. The GRACE Place program teaches our children and youth the Orthodox faith through teachings of the Bible, as well as materials obtained from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese. We believe that GRACE Place is one of the most important activities for our children, giving them a valuable opportunity to become more familiar with God and His Church, the Holy Sacraments, Tradition and Scripture.
Our students and their families are encouraged to arrive to Divine Liturgy every Sunday promptly at 10:00am to worship and pray together as a family. Children are encouraged to sit together with their teachers in the front left side of the church. GRACE Place classes begin every week after Holy Communion, and are approximately 30-45 minutes long. Children then join their parents during coffee hour after their class has concluded. Families with children in the LITTLE ANGELS and HOPE groups are requested to pick up their child each Sunday from the classroom at dismissal time, 12:00pm.
GRACE Place starts in September and ends in June each year.
- LITTLE ANGELS: Pre-K & K;
- HOPE: 1st & 2nd grades;
- JOY: 3rd, 4th, & 5th grades;
- YOUTH GROUP: middle & high school; teachers JoAnne Kazis & Sassa Tselengidis
DANCE PROGRAM - This year, we will also weave into GRACE Place a dance program for kids in the JOY and YOUTH Groups.
RETREATS - There will be 2 Retreats this year all taking place after Greek School on Fridays – from about 6 to 8 pm. We encourage all children and families to attend.
ATTENDANCE REWARD PROGRAM - Children will be rewarded for good attendance. Each child with perfect or near perfect attendance will be acknowledged at the end of the year, and they will receive a reward.
THE TEACHERS - Teachers & assistants of the GRACE Place program are members of the Orthodox faith, who have graduated from a Sunday School Program, and participate in staff training offered through the parish and Archdiocese, in order to grow in the knowledge of the Orthodox Faith. We have a terrific staff of volunteers again this year. Please thank them for their dedication and for giving of their time and talents to our children.

The life of the Orthodox Church perpetuates and fulfills the ministry of Jesus Christ. The close association between Christ and His Church is reflected in the images from the Scriptures which declare that Christ is the Head and the Church is His Body, and that Christ is the Bridegroom and the Church is His bride.
